  Christy first fell in love with the outdoors when her older brother took her on a backpacking trip in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula when she was a college student in her early twenties. She hiked for five days and hung the food bag on the bear pole every night, not really believing there were any bears and hoping not to be shown otherwise. She wondered at the beauty of sparkling Lake Superior – and she was hooked.

When her brother died just a couple years later, Christy stopped venturing outdoors. She got married and had kids and built a career, and more than twenty years passed before her love of outdoor adventure was reignited when, in the same year, she took up trail running and summited her first Adirondack High Peak in 2018. 

Christy has since completed all 46 High Peaks and has set her sights on the NE111. She has run dozens of trail races and ultramarathons, including Twisted Branch - her longest race ever - a 100K trail race in the Finger Lakes region of New York. She spent several years working as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Finger Lakes Trail Conference, where she became deeply familiar with the New York’s vast trail community, and she is a Leave No Trace Master Educator.

Professionally, Christy has spent more than twenty years in nonprofit development, working with small to mid-size organizations in the health and human services fields, education, the arts, and outdoor recreation. She has held leadership roles in several area nonprofits and has extensive experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing, and strategic planning.

Christy provided the initial spark for WE Adventure NY. As Founder/President & CEO, she has a personal passion for the mission of the organization, and a vision for its future. When she’s not out on the trails or thinking about all things WE Adventure NY, Christy can be found reading, cooking the same boring meals on repeat, and lifting weights in her basement gym. Christy is mom to two grown children. Her daughter Chloë lives in Vermont, and Christy lives in the Rochester suburb West Irondequoit with her son Aidan and their two dogs, Holly and Chidi.
